The Lowlands
According to the CBS (Statistics Netherlands), almost three-quarters of Dutch people are concerned about the consequences of climate change. We are willing to make obvious adjustments for a better climate. However, as soon as adjustments have more impact, this willingness quickly diminishes.
A third of the Netherlands lies below sea level. What if we don't get a grip on the changing climate and the sea level rises by meters? Land that we reclaimed from the sea many centuries ago could possibly disappear back into the sea in the near future. These images are a visual poem and an ode to this potentially disappearing land.
