Museum aan de A

The Museum aan de A in Groningen is in transition. It's evolving from the Groningen Maritime Museum to a museum focused on the history of the city and province of Groningen. The museum, housed in a 14th-century building, is also undergoing changes. Work is being done to modernize the building, which presents a significant challenge given its status as a protected monument.

To document this transition visually, the museum enlisted the help of Noorderlicht. Through a pitch at the Fotosalon I was chosen, along with Anita Oosterloo, to work on this project.

It's a four-year assignment in which I capture the transformation of the museum's space. I'm looking for interesting compositions - compositions that make you aware that there's another reality hidden within everyday reality.

The images from this project are intended to form the first exhibition in the renovated museum in 2026.
