Hongerige Wolf (translates to 'Hungry Wolf') is a small village in the northeast of the Groningen province. The name of the village first appears in a newspaper article from 1877. The exact origin of the name has not been determined to this day. The village has about 70 inhabitants and balances on the edge of the inhabited world.
Annually, the 'Hongerige Wolf' festival is organised here. It's a festival of art, music, and dance. Not only for the surrounding villages, but people from all over the Netherlands come to the village to camp among the vast farmlands.
In 2023, I started making a documentary about the space where the village, with its handful of inhabitants, is located and where the festival is hosted once a year. It's still an ongoing project. The space and the festival have been captured on film. In 2024/2025, I will photograph the residents. The intention is for the series to be exhibited at the 2025 edition of the festival.
